Gender Neutrality

In my country India where over the decades, social scientists have harped ceaselessly about how women have been suppressed, its rather pleasant to witness my observation. Although my opinion may be applicable to a select few group of radical thought driven youngsters, but it still prevails. My world is no longer as I knew it was. This utter sense of gender neutrality is starting to creep into younger minds. I no longer see if the person I’m talking to is ball-ed or breasted. (Seeing how I am 16 now and have spent 12 years of my life in an all girls school, oblivious to any male existence other than fathers and brothers…I’d like to give myself a two hoots for that!) Meterosexuality too has given an impetus to such an attitude.
Its equally pleasing for me to gasp with my male cousin how soft this new body shop moisturizer leaves your hands; as it is to be nostalgic with my girl teammates how that one last goal, in sun and sweat, made us nearly win the 2nd pool of netball nationals. I love it when I call one of my male friends my sister on account of how he walks, sighs like a hot pumped blonde girl, does dance moves that can seduce any straight guy (in jocularity of course)…and his utter sensitivity to people and things around him! This attitude has over the centuries been clichédly segregated as typical to females. (In his defence: just because a boy has been brought up all pampered and princessy, DOES NOT make him gay K)..I loved it when my beautiful girl friend called me her brother when I intelligently tackled with one of her stalkers who brought unhealthy approaches to her..(And honestly, I will beat the shit out of that guy if he does anything remotely stupid)..AGAIN,this behaviour of mine has been mindlessly categorized as typical  to males….!
One word: bullshitK
The point to be noted is :
Gender no longer holds reasons or explanations to characteristics. We as individuals are entitled to our OWN DIFFERENT choice of independent critical thinking and analysis.Sure our thoughts are mingled but what traits overrule our personalities depends mostly on how we’ve been brought up as!.This bringing up includes who we’re inspired from and inspirations never had boundaries of gender!!…….(Bleh..This isn’t news to you…but I still felt like exclamating :/)
There are all sorts of people from guys who’re ace fashionistas, pouting in the mirror swearing to burn ramps and malls with their designs this year..To young girls who’ve beaten up bullies on their streets as kids and who today march with loud pride as soldiers in the army .I know male friends who’ll take a dozen shampoo bottles and hair products to their washrooms before bathing and who swear by sanitizers for every handshake they make throughout the day. I also know female friends who’ll forget the count of days since they last took a shower and go for the cleaning processes SOLELY on need basis..(Read need basis: stink tolerant capacities of their surrounding people)...And I love them all! I love all my friends! I love pretending gay and going “heylloooooo girlzzz!” with a wink or two sometimes to my girl classmates for the simple masculine feeling it gives me. I love to joke around with my guy friends how we’ll share at least one girlfriend, walk on beaches and hit on two-piece clad volleyball bimbos who’ll laugh at your sickest joke. MAYBE, honestly, I wouldn’t even mind getting laid with a girl for the simple HECK of the thing. (Although I WILL feel disgusted later coz im pretty straight, in case that wasn’t apparent for those who already know me ;) ). BUT HELL!. My wish list includes me trying out everything this life has to offer.! Including:
Getting dead drunk and wasted in a Vegas party, to see what it feels like to get laid with a gay man, to get married in space wearing a pink astro suit and bang our bubble heads against each others’ on the “now you may kiss the bride” part…. to slap a wild bulls butt, to be filthy rich, CEO of Microsoft/Pixar/Apple etc, become a politician, remove poverty, learn Buddhism and spirituality lessons in the Himalayas, to speed up mutation and bring a new species in existence, to build a time machine….IT HAS IT ALL….!!
WE WANT TO DO IT ALL!
The point is also how we as people have begun to live as wandering souls unafraid to experiment, fail and do it again. And in the process, the characteristics we imbibe are independent of stereotypes and conditioned thoughts. In THIS very process, my men and women readers, we diminish differences of who we were born as.
And that is the best part.J
